The short version

What this page is

This page explains what information SoulMar (soulmarstudio.com) collects when you visit the website, buy a product, download a freebie or write to us, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. We keep it to what is genuinely needed to run a small shop, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.

Last updated

What we collect and why

When you buy something

To process your order we collect your name, email address, billing country and address, and the details of what you bought. We use them to deliver your files, send the order confirmation, keep the accounting records the law requires, and help you if something goes wrong with a download. Guest checkout is available, so you do not need to create an account to buy.

Payment details

Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card number and security code go directly to Stripe and never reach our website or our records. Stripe processes them under its own privacy policy. We only receive a confirmation of payment and the last four digits of the card.

When you create an account

If you choose to create an account, we store your name, email address and password (encrypted) so you can log in and find your downloads and order history under My account. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.

When you write to us

When you use the contact form we receive your name, email address and message by email, so we can reply. The form does not keep a copy of your message on the website.

When you ask for a freebie

When you enter your email address to receive a free download, we receive it by email and use it to send you the files and, from time to time, news from the studio about new products and free downloads. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to remove your address by replying to any message.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our server keeps standard logs with your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and the time of your visit. We use them only to keep the site secure and working, and they are deleted automatically after a short period. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels or any other visitor tracking service.

Cookies

Cookies we use

The website sets a small number of cookies that are needed for it to work: cookies that remember what is in your cart and keep you logged in, a cookie from our caching system that speeds up page loads, and cookies that record which page or link brought you to a purchase so we can understand what is working. We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Managing cookies

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking the essential cookies means the cart and checkout will not work, but the rest of the site will.

Who else sees your information

Services that help us run the shop

A small number of trusted services process information on our behalf: Stripe (payments), Hostinger (web hosting and email delivery) and Google Fonts (the typefaces used on this site, which means your browser requests font files from Google when a page loads). Each of them only receives what is needed for its task and handles it under its own privacy policy.

Amazon

Our printed books are sold on Amazon. When you follow a “Buy on Amazon” link you leave this website, and anything you do there is covered by Amazon’s privacy policy, not ours. We do not receive any personal information about your Amazon purchase.

When the law requires it

We may share information if we are legally required to, for example to comply with tax obligations or a valid request from an authority, or to protect our rights or the safety of our customers.

How long we keep it

Order records

Order and invoice records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, which is usually several years after the purchase.

Everything else

Contact messages are kept only for as long as needed to answer them. Freebie signups are kept until you unsubscribe. Account details are kept until you ask us to delete the account.

Your rights

What you can ask us

You can ask us at any time to tell you what information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to stop sending you emails, or to send you a copy of it. We may need to keep order records that the law requires, and we will tell you if that is the case. Write to hello@soulmarstudio.com and we will reply within two business days.

If you live in the EU, UK or California

The rights above cover what data protection law in the European Union, the United Kingdom and California gives you, including the right to object to how we use your information and the right to complain to your local data protection authority. We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for targeted advertising.

Children

This website is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us their details, write to us and we will delete them.

Security and contact

How we protect your information

The website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), payments are handled by Stripe, and access to our order records is limited to the people who run the shop. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care to keep your information safe.
